I just recently came back from having my first brush lettering workshop in Penang! :) It was a very fruitful trip and all classes were full before June. I really didn't expect to have full attendance because I'm not sure if people would want to learn from me, so when I reached Penang I was super nervous for the workshops. Luckily, as always, all the students were very patient with me and also very very warm. Here's what happened;
Friday, June 16: Settled down and prepped for the 6pm session with Ling of TinyPinc, and PandaEyes. My first session lasted until 10.30pm, because I didn't allocate a certain amount of time for each subtopic, so students were sooo focused and finished a little late. :D I'm super lucky that they didn't get too tired or sleepy as four of them actually had school the next day. Really enjoyed and definitely made new friends that evening. :) Sad story though, Ling and I only had Maggi Cup for dinner! Bummer. I stayed up a little because I loved the view from our unit so much, and I just wanted to take everything in since I raaaaarely visit Penang. Saturday, June 17: Woke up early to have breakfast with my dad and aunt. Went to Pulau Tikus to eat the super duper delicious nasi lemak and tapau some sambal hebi omg. We then went around a little, to temples and such. Had more delicious lunch and headed back just in time for the 1pm workshop. We started at 1.30pm because we waited for all the students to arrive. Again super patient and concentrated on the worksheet. I remember one of the girls has the same Chinese name as myself, and she had really cute nails, daisies on pastel blue base! :D By the time we ended it was 4.30pm. Just in time for the last session, right? But the same thing happened, we waited 'til 5pm to wait for the remaining participants, which was good because I got to clear up properly, and say goodbye to the previous session's students. :) In this last group I met one girl who I've been wanted to meet for so long! We know each other through Instagram and she ordered a custom card from me. This year she ordered again and I'm super happy she came to the workshop~ For this class we meant to end at 7.30pm, but because we started late we just extended the time a bit. :) By that time everyone was already relaxed and hungry for dinner, especially those who were fasting, so we took some photos, said our goodbyes and I guess everyone went to eat! :D I was supposed to take my dinner more seriously this time and have some good food, but I met up with my Penang friend and we had a last-minute change of plan, hence when I reached the unit at 11.30 I hadn't eaten yet. LUCKILY THOUGH, you guys, I brought back more nasi lemak from that morning you know. Heaven. One of the students from Friday evening also brought char koey teow and bancang kuih earlier. :') We're so lucky to have made such warm friends on this trip~ Thank you super duper very much to everyone who came to the workshops, and who helped in making it happen! I wrote in some of the place cards that I hope everyone would take home good memories. I know I did. :)

One of the most energetic groups I've had at The Craft Crowd! Head on over here for more photos! Very thankful to each and every participant who took the time to learn brush lettering over the weekend with me. :) It means a lot to be allowed 5 hours of your time to share my passion with you. :)
Off to a good start to the year with a brush lettering workshop at The Craft Crowd! Thank you very very much to all who took part in this session. :) More photos here where you can see close-ups and how the participants wrote on their own tote bags. Happiness is good food and good company. We had both that day. :) Hope everyone is having fun prepping for Chinese New Year! A challenging day at Etsy Made Local '16, but a good learning opportunity for myself. :) So glad everyone stayed positive even though the weather was crazy. More photos here!
THIS WAS THE MOST FUN SESSION EVERRRRRR! :D Go see more photos here! Really thankful for being able to do this, it's super tiring but I love it! It's even better when working with The Craft Crowd, always so supportive and creative. We made quote paintings and tote bags, all in one session. Nothing beats the end of the day when everyone takes photos together and goes home with smiles on their faces.
YEEHEE! One more brush lettering workshop with The Craft Crowd done! So tiring but what more could I ask for with good company and good food, right?? I'm really glad everyone managed to learn something and that they had fun. For more photos, you can check out The Craft Crowd's Facebook page. Photos by Andrialis.
Had so much fun calligraphing on notebooks for CK @ KLCC!
Success! The brush lettering workshop at Taylor's Lakeside during Rakan Muda's Jelajah Kampus went well! Local artists such as Talitha Tan and An Honest Mistake also made it to the event. The number of people who wanted to participate in the workshop was overwhelming, and exceeded my expectations. I'm guessing it was partly due to the fact that it was an entirely free workshop, materials provided, but it was still really great to see so many people interested!
Had the exciting opportunity to calligraph at dUCk's The Alphabet Duck scarves launch in Bangsar Shopping Centre, thanks to Soirée Casa and their delicious-smelling candles!
